The Artist
Hello viewers. My name is Joe Olszewski and I am currently a senior at Ronald Wilson Reagan High School. I first started to get into art in 6th grade when I took an art class. I remember doing paintings and other art sculptures and I started to get into it. By freshman year as I walked into Mr. Chad's classroom I knew I was going to do this for the rest of my high school career and here I am now in IB senior art. I have a couple of skills when it comes to art such as doing different carvings like block printing and wood printing. I am also very textual in my artwork so that the viewer is always looking all around my pieces. Some techniques I like to use are oil paints using pallet knife and carving tools. My process mostly is a step-by-step image in my head of what I will exactly do for my artwork. Most of my influences come from artists that add a lot of texture in their work such as Henry Matisse. The media that I love to use the most is pallet knife with oil paints because of how much texture you can get out of the piece you are making. One achievement I was proud of was taking pre-college classes at MIAD to help improve my skills in painting and 2-D sketching. When making art, I mostly focus on what the viewer wants to see rather than what I want to see in my artwork. I have made I will be making many projects this years and I will keep my website as updated as possible. Thanks for taking the time to read a little about me and I hope you enjoy my art!
